Environmental Re-evaluation
Environmental Re-evaluation (SR-177; SR-193 to 1800 N)
- In 2017, an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) proposed one lane in each direction between SR-193 and 1800 N. Due to growth projections looking out to 2050, travel demand now shows a need for two lanes each way. The updated design has expanded the EIS project footprint for the additional lanes. The expanded footprint also includes:
- Design refinements for safety
- Revised drainage ponds
- Room for utility relocations
- The re-evaluation was conducted to assess the change in impacts of the expanded project footprint to the environmental resources in the area including land use, farmland, community, noise and ecosystems.
The Environmental Re-evaluation for the SR-177; SR-193 to 1800 N project has been finalized and approved. Read the Re-evaluation below.
Noise Wall Balloting Results
As part of the West Davis Highway (SR-193 to 1800 North) EIS re-evaluation study, three proposed noise walls were recommended and residents were balloted.
During the Environmental Re-evaluation of the SR-177 project between SR-193 and 1800 N, noise impacts from the highway were measured and modeled, and noise walls were evaluated. Per UDOT’s noise policy, qualified residents and property owners near these walls, described as “benefited receptors,” voted to approve or reject their construction. A “benefited receptor” is a resident or property owner who would receive a reduction of 5 decibels or more if a proposed noise wall were constructed. View the full Noise Wall Study.
